I am voting whole-heartedly for Joe Biden

November 1, 2020

I’m voting for Biden because he stands firmly in support of LGBTQ+ rights, including the right to marry.

I’m voting for Biden because he stands up for the rights of women, including their right to make decisions regarding their own bodies.

I’m voting for Biden because he has a proven track record of fighting to end violence against women and fighting to end the pay gap that exists between men and women for equal work.

I’m voting for Biden because the efforts of Democrats (through social programs, including sex education, health care, and universal access to birth control) do more to reduce abortions than do the Republican efforts to make abortion illegal.

I’m voting for Biden because he will raise taxes on those making more than $400,000 per year and will help restore the progressive tax rates that helped build this great country.

I’m voting for Biden because I value the essential services I get from the tax dollars I pay –– roads and bridges, police, firefighters, education, water, and sewer.

I’m voting for Biden because I believe that health care should be added to the list of essential services provided by the government and that the health insurance industry should be upended and dismantled.

I’m voting for Biden because health care that doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions isn’t health care.

I’m voting for Biden because health care should not be tied to employment. Our current mess of a system creates a burden on employers and prevents people from changing jobs and finding upward mobility.

I’m voting for Biden because he and his wife Dr. Jill Biden exude a loving relationship when they’re together.

I’m voting for Biden because we have an obligation as a society to maintain a safety net for our poorest and most vulnerable citizens.

I’m voting for Biden because he recognizes the importance of Social Security to America’s senior citizens and rejects every effort to cut, privatize, or weaken it.

I’m voting for Biden because he will fight for a higher minimum wage. I’m a small business owner, and I pay wages, and I believe it is a moral responsibility for those who employ others to ensure that we pay them at a rate that allows a decent standard of living.

I’m voting for Biden because he loves his son and is not afraid to show it, in spite of his son’s flaws and the opposition’s attempts to manufacture a scandal.

I’m voting for Biden because a Biden administration and Democrats will do more to ensure that K-12 education is funded properly and that the schools that need funding most will get it.

I’m voting for Biden because we need high quality, fully-funded Pre-K and ECFE to give all children (no matter their socio-economic status) access to education at an age when it has the biggest impact and to help families burdened by the high cost of daycare.

I’m voting for Biden because he uses the words “I’m sorry” and can admit when he’s made a mistake.

I’m voting for Biden because he will include the voices of all Americans as he builds his leadership team. White men make up just 31% of the U.S. population but 80% of the current cabinet.

I’m voting for Biden because he picked Kamala Harris to be his running mate, and I have full confidence in their ability to lead our nation.

I’m voting for Biden because he actively supports civil rights and will fight for justice for people of color.

I’m voting for Biden because he will address the division in our country and will bring people together and help us work toward healing.

I’m voting for Biden because he will answer questions from reporters and be accountable to the public.

I’m voting for Biden because he will help restore key alliances that America has had since World War II.

I’m voting for Biden because Net Neutrality is central to the future of the Internet, and the decisions made by the current chairman of the FCC Ajit Pai need to be reversed.

I’m voting for Biden because he will take actions and provide leadership as we grapple with the existential threat of climate change.

I’m voting for Biden because he wants to transition us off our dependence on oil, and he has the courage to say this to a national audience. The supply of oil is finite, and future generations will look back on us in disbelief that it took us so long to move from oil to renewable energy.

I’m voting for Biden because he will work to protect our shared national resources and will work to keep our air and water clean, and, yes, that means there will need to be regulations and enforcement on companies that pollute.

I’m voting for Biden because he will listen to Dr. Fauci. If we have any hopes of keeping our economy open this coming winter as this virus rages, we’ll need to stop pretending that masks and social distancing are some sort of culture war or that the coronavirus isn’t serious.

I’m voting for Biden because I want to see common sense gun reforms, including a regulation of assault rifles, background checks on the sale of handguns, and a ban on convicted felons and domestic abusers from being able to own guns.

I’m voting for Biden because I want there to be more regulation and oversight of Wall Street to prevent another Great Recession.

I’m voting for Biden because he will roll back the current administration’s ban on refugees and will once again make America a beacon of hope for the rest of the world.

I’m voting for Biden because he demonstrates Christian values in his interactions with others.
